Our dedicated, friendly and supportive team is what makes CBS the preeminent business practice it is today. Led by our Principal Michael Coombs, our team looks forward to meeting you and providing the utmost of care and business support. 


 

Michael Coombs - Principal

Michael is our founder and Principal here at CBS. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce Michael founded Coombs Business Services in 1995 with a keen desire to break the mould of the compliance-based accounting firms he started his career in. With a passion to create a business that was more proactive, caring and fun, Michael wanted to build an accounting firm that was outside the box. His favourite part of CBS is showing care and empathy for all clients both big and small. Outside of work, you’ll find Michael socialising with friends and family, supporting the Mighty Manly Sea Eagles and partaking in gastronomic travel.  


Tanya Bailey - Client Manager

Tanya is the longest serving member of the CBS team after starting with the firm in 1997. She is particularly passionate about mentoring the younger staff at CBS and helping them develop their accounting careers. She loves the fun atmosphere and camaraderie of the CBS team, and also enjoys working with her clients in all aspects of their business and financial affairs. On the weekend, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and dog, walking to the beach, kayaking, camping and bushwalking. 

Lauren Dunne - Client Manager

Lauren has been working in tax since 2005 and joined the CBS team as a Senior Accountant in 2013. Lauren brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm having completed her Bachelor of Business (Accounting) in 2006 and became a CPA in 2011. During her time at CBS, Lauren has had two children and took on the role of Tax Manager in 2018. She enjoys not only helping clients meet their tax obligations but carrying out work that adds value for small businesses. On weekends, Lauren enjoys caravanning with her husband and kids.   

 
Sivashni Sharma

Sivashni Sharma - Accountant

With a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) under her belt, Sivashni has been an Accountant at CBS since 2009. In her daily role Sivashni assists managers with client’s taxation needs and is proficient in self-managed superannuation funds (SMSF). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching her kids play soccer and cricket.  

Georgia Coombs - Accountant

After completing school in Mackay, Georgia moved to the Gold Coast to complete a double degree in Business and Commerce, majoring in Business Management and Accounting. After finishing her degree, Georgia moved back to Mackay to begin working as an Accountant at CBS in 2017. Georgia enjoys helping clients identify strengths and weaknesses to achieve business outcomes. She loves being able to assist clients with complex matters and knowing she is able to help at any step of the way. Outside of work, you will find Georgia keeping up with her busy social life and exploring Sunny QLD.  

Breana Chauntler

Breana Chauntler - Accountant

Since joining the Coombs Business Services team in 2018, Breana has completed a Bachelor of Accounting with Distinction and is currently studying to become a CPA. Breana enjoys helping her clients grow and succeed in their businesses. She also loves assisting both clients and staff with technical queries and is involved in managing the professional development of the CBS team. In her spare time, Breana enjoys playing sports and keeping fit, taking her dogs to the beach and reading. 

 
Jamie Wakeman

Jamie Wakeman - Accountant

Jamie has been an Accountant with CBS since 2019. During this time Jamie completed a Bachelor of Accounting with Distinction and is now studying to become a CPA. Jamie is dedicated to self-improvement and strives to push herself in order to better help her clients. In her day-to-day role Jamie helps a wide range of our clients with everything from tax compliance to assisting managers with complex tasks. In her free time, Jamie loves catching up with friends and family, going to the gym and spending time at the beach. 

Isabella Reiss

Isabella Reiss - Trainee Accountant

Isabella is our resident Trainee Accountant and is currently studying a Bachelor of Accounting. Isabella joined CBS in 2020 and enjoys the team culture and high standard of care and practice. In her day-to-day role, Isabella completes individual tax returns, quarterly BAS’s, and assists other Accountants and Managers with a range of tasks. On the weekend, Isabella is busy going to the beach with her dog Jerry, spending time with friends and family and studying to complete her accounting degree. 

Anna McLeod

Anna McLeod - Practice Manager

Anna is CBS’s friendly Practice Manager. She has been with the practice since 2018, joining the team after she graduated from high school. Anna loves helping people, her day-to-day role sees her assisting clients and staff members with whatever they may need. In her spare time you will find her out socialising with her friends, spending time with family and her puppy Andy.

Kayleen Floyd - Office Administrator

Kayleen is a long-time member of the CBS family. She first started with CBS in 2002 before becoming a mother and taking on a new line of work. Kayleen could not stay away too long, however, and re-joined the CBS clan in 2015. Her daily roll involves payroll, reconciliations, and bookkeeping, Kayleen is a great asset to the CBS team. Kayleen is a lover of adventure, you will find her most weekends camping with her family or watching her kids play hockey.

Lilli Irelandes - Junior Administration Assistant

Lilli Joined CBS in 2023 as the Junior Administration Assistant. Lilli extends invaluable support to managers and accountants by assisting with setting up appointments, preparing documents and compiling tax booklets. What Lilli enjoys most about her role at CBS is engaging with the lovely clients and CBS team. In Lilli’s spare time you’ll catch her spending time with her friends and family and spending time with her cat Buttercup and dog Sammy!

Lynette McCall

Lynette McCall - Receptionist

Lynette is a new member of the CBS team having joined in 2021. She has worked in Accountancy firms for a number of years. In her daily role, you will possibly hear her voice on the other end of the line when calling CBS, or you might see her friendly face greeting you when you visit the office. As part of the admin team, Lynette helps with queries, lodging returns and any ATO issues. In her free time, Lynette enjoys outdoor activities, with water skiing and fishing high on the list.   

Mollie Blacklock

Mollie Blacklock - Trainee Accountant

Mollie joined CBS in 2020 as the Junior Administration Assistant. Mollie has expanded her skills now actively contributing to the team as she assists Managers and Accountants in tasks ranging from completing Income Tax Returns and Business Activity Statements to handling various administrative responsibilities. She loves the versatility of her job at CBS. On the weekends, you will find her hanging out with friends and spending time outdoors.

RACQ CQ Rescue.

The RACQ CQ Rescue is a community-funded recuse helicopter available to everyone in the Central Queensland region between Townsville and Rockhampton. For 25 years the RACQ CQ Rescue have helped save the lives of thousands of patients airlifted each year. CBS is part of the RACQ CQ Rescue 412 Program. This program sees local businesses donate to support RACQ CQ Rescue. The program also holds networking and charity fundraisers throughout the year.

St Patricks Girls Rugby League.

St Patricks College is a Catholic College in Mackay exclusively catering to Year 11 and 12 students. In 2021 CBS became proud sponsors of the St Patrick’s College Girls Confraternity Team. This was the first year that women have been able to play in this Competition. In 2022 the Confraternity Shield will be held in Mackay.

Carlton Senior Rugby League Mackay & Norths Junior Devils Mackay.

Norths Devils is one of the founding Rugby League Clubs in the Mackay District which celebrated 100 years as a local club in 2019. CBS are proud silver sponsors of the Carltons Senior and Norths Junior Devils clubs and we are looking forward to watch there successes in the 2022 season.

 

Child Safey Handbook Produced by the Queensland Police Legacy.

The ‘Child Safety Handbook’ is a much needed and vital resource guide for children, parents and teachers. QLD Police Legacy have targeted seven strategic areas in Queensland and are distributing free of charge, 10,000 copies of the handbook into each area for local primary school children to take home to their parents.

The goal of the campaign is to reach family homes and parents, raising awareness of child safety issues including emergency situations, bullying and alcohol abuse.

Children’s Hospital Foundation.

With the support of sponsors the Children’s Hospital Foundation fund life-saving medical research, invest in vital new equipment and provide support and entertainment for children and their families.

CBS are proud supporters of this organisation. In 2020 our donations went towards funding a critical piece of equipment which is central to a research study that monitors brain waves in children affected by stroke which will aid clinicians in minimising the life-long impairments associated with stroke.
